February's 2nd Sunday Hike

Sustainable Morehead & Daniel Boone Rails to Trails' 2nd Sunday Hike will be on Valentine's Day this year. So, bring your sweetheart and join us for a walk in the woods.

2:00PM, Sunday, February 14, 2016.

We'll meet at the Morehead United Methodist Church parking lot and car pool to the Eagle Lake area for a winter time good time hike.

Degree of difficulty - Easy. Allow 1 To 2 hours.

Kentuckians For The Commonwealth (KFTC) Rowan County Chapter members and friends:

The Wild and Scenic Film Festival, with KFTC as a co-sponsor, will be held this next Saturday, January 23, at the Morehead Conference Center from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The Festival features 14 films.  There will also be speakers, food, and "local beers."  General Admission is $15; students - $10, children - $5. 

Kentucky Heartwood and the Sheltowee Trace Association are local sponsors.

January Meeting

Sustainable Morehead's January meeting will take place on January 25, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Morehead United Methodist Church.

The meeting is open to the public, and we encourage anyone interested in environmental conservation and sustainability to attend.

First Day Hike on January 1st, 2016!

Sustainable Morehead, The Sheltowee Trace Association, & Daniel Boone Rails to Trails are sponsoring a First Day Hike!

Participants will meet at the Morehead United Methodist Church Parking Lot at 10:00 AM Jan 1, 2016. We will carpool to the "Leatherwood Loop" trail in the Zilpo area of Cave Run Lake. As an alternate meeting spot, we will also briefly assemble at the Clear Creek Market about 10:30 before reaching the Leatherwood Trailhead.

Please allow about an hour travel and two hours of hiking.

A "New Years Good Luck" offering of Black Eyed Peas will be available for our hikers at the conclusion of the hike.

December's 2nd Sunday Hike

Meet at the Shallow Flats parking lot, which is located a short distance past the Forest Service Visitor's Center on Hwy 801.

We will hike the Lake View Trail.

Our hike will give us great views of Cave Run Lake so bring your camera.
