100 mile potluck

Morehead 100 mile potluck

2015 date:  August 22nd, 6pm

Downtown/City Park Community Garden Site (corner of Bridge & Triplett Streets)

The 100-Mile Potluck is a nationwide event that encourages eating locally. The idea is that a community comes together for a potluck, and all of the dishes brought to the potluck are made from ingredients within a 100-mile radius. Many other communities in Kentucky participate in this event, including large and well-established 100-Mile Potlucks in Louisville and Berea.

Beverages will be provided, but you are asked to bring your own utensils, plates, and a dish made from ingredients within a 100-mile radius. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a chair or comfortable blanket to sit on. Please label the dishes with the location of where the food came from. Not every single ingredient must be local, as it might prove difficult to find locally grown sugar or other spices, but the main components of the dish should be from local sources. Sustainable Morehead, Inc. would like to invite everyone to attend. Please forward this invitation to all of your friends!

We encourage you to use this event as an opportunity to become more familiar with local sources of food in our area. Here are some websites that contain 100 mile recipe ideas and additional information about eating locally and how to locate local farmers in our area:
